Since the card wasn't recognized by camera, I couldn't use it to format the card. I have watched the helpful video & tried everything including the celotape step but not taking the camera apart. I would love to discover that both these thoughts are incorrect and that I've just overlooked something. My Memory card is an SD one like in the pictures, but does not have a 'lock' switch and never has, there is also no writing or gold to indicate there Mrs. After an hour I finally decided to Google it and found out all I had to do was move the little teeny lock switch.

The toothpick trick worked!! Send the file to your PC using IR/Bluetooth 5. With the card connected to the computer go to "My computer", go to the removable drive representing the SD card, right click on it, select Format.
