It's not mentioned in the owner's manual. I love this printer and think there's a lot more life in it.I have another MP600 up north and am afraid the same thing will be happening with that one when What do you think? Don't even think of trying to replace it, very hard to do on an iP-MP800 series unit.

I am also having the same problem - Anonymous 2 I have a Canon MP830 with an error that says "Paper output slot, the paper is jammed, clear the paper and I moved the print heads back and forth a couple of times to make sure there was no more paper stuck, turned it off and on and yes ahhhh it works It looks a little like the film on the bottom of the print head. I just gently pushed on mine and it popped back down. Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like. I found a leaf from a plant which had dropped into the machine, and moving the white plastic thingy released it, I pulled it out, and brilliant - all is working old, the service charge plus the price of the purge unit may cross the price of a new or refurbished printer.
In my case, it was not the actual sponge, but the white plastic sponge holder that needed to be pushed back into position aside the paper feed placket. Repeat until the paper towel is relatively clear.5. Then turn off and on and away you go. Credentials confirmed by a Fortune 500 verification firm.
This is what happens - (the orange light flashes 11 times). Mine just gives me the error code C000 "Printer Error has occurred. To remove the printhead, you need to use a small downward and forward pressure and then it will pull up and out. Again, don't try hard.
