But before downloading and installing a DVD player, you should make sure the DVD player is fully compatible with Windows 10 and can play both unencrypted DVDs and commercially encrypted DVDs. To resolve the error, uninstall and reinstall Intervideo WinDVD Player software as follows: Click Start, and then Control Panel. It may work. Is it possible to reinstall Media Foundation on its own?

In troubleshooting this I realized that if I go to my recorded TV folder I can right-click on content and open it with Windows Media Player and it works fine but Mpeg 2 Decoder Part of the problem is that media center crashes when it tries to load thumbnails for any divx movies, as it can't play them by default. You might have to widen the Name column by clicking and dragging the right side of column title. Windows has been rolling out the updates over the last couple days (>40 for my machine) but so far nothing that addresses this issue.

Therefore, I would like to suggest a rebuild of the Media Center data store. Hoping but not holding my breath for a future Windows update to fix what has been broken. I do understand that certain movies will not be able to play on the my xbox 360 due to certain codecs, but would this stop certain movies from playing all together? Weird problem, but I still can't play any video files on Windows Media Center. I can only guess that a recent windows update caused the problem, but cannot be certain.
