On my now Win2K machine I had to run it in Command Prompt. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Often about C:\$Mft and also about all files the computer was trying to touch. The errors pertained to things like C:\$MFT, C:\Windows\system32\config, etc. useful reference
I had to use System Restore to get it all back. Want to enjoy fewer advertisements and more features? I did some googling on this and it was suggested to disable write caching for the drive. But all I had to do was connect the 250 GB drive internally through the IDE interface and the data transfer was flawless.
