I have had such great success with this printer that I would look for a newer model of this printer whenever I need to replace this one. When that didn't solve the problem, they sent me a refurbished unit. This is an awesome and invaluable forum for DIY printer repair. They sent me a complete unit with ink and printhead which was great since the old one had run out of ink. I have the same problem. There's a small piece of plastic with a little black squeegee-looking flap that I clicked back in place. You do need to get in well and make sure to gently move some of the internal parts to clean enough. Read postings below on ink build up.

When it is printing duplex (which I do a lot), it gets to the bottom of the page then seems to lose focus, so to speak. I realized something was wrong with the print head.

Works great now. After several attempts of turning it on and off this supposed wire has come completely loose. I slid the white plate back and forth and I wasn't lucky enough to have a piece of paper on the sponges or anything. check my blog But yours sounds like a normal function.

Many people just press the ink pads down, since they are spring loaded, and if they had been stuck this will temporaryly free them.

grabbed a hunk of paper and I think I've got all the pieces but probably not. The big BCI-3eBK ink is for text printing only, the smaller BCI-6BK is for graphics.
