I have good technical skills and with the right parts & info I am sure I can get it working again. If this is the case you will need to get a replacement printhead from Canon. We finally wadded up paper towels under the machine and poured isopropyl (antiseptic) alcohol over ink pad and associated mechanism. Whatever has jammed the purge unit into the the carriage asm can't be fixed without taking the printer apart. check my blog

That saved me about $75.00 in new ink cartridges. It was on the right side and visible/accessible when I'd moved the print head to the left and shone a light down into the right-side of the guts of the thing. You can take these printheads out quite easily. Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 code.

Have tried turning machine on and off and it gets to the point whre the cartridge carriage usually moves across to the middle but then it doesnt it just stops and Use a flashlight to view the right hand section and you should see two black sponges sitting in a plastic shell. I figure the problem is somewhere between where the top feeder starts up to the place where it meets up with the bottom feeder assembly.I am just going to stick with Now that the power is off, you can move the printhead asm to the far left and this will give you a little more room to access the purge unit.
