If people are too lazy to strain themselves to flex their wrist and do it manually, they don't deserve to own a camera. I got the note that, while still under warranty, canon wouldn't repair my first sx100 unless I paid $100. Then I used the spine of the camera manual and to my surprise the lens actually retracted. My best bet is that there is dirt near the lens.

Like I said, it turns on, but the lens only extends a tiny bit, and then the lens error comes up and it quickly turns off. I'd like to get to the gears that extend and retract the lens. The other times it happens is if I'm outside in 40 degrees F. I gently pressed around the lens and it clicked back into place.
