im afraid warranty wont cover this one. This got the lens to retract, which was an improvement, but was still getting stuck while zooming. All the internal circuitry and mechanical parts were covered with bits of tobacco and food debris. This is probably not a lens error, because other things are wrong other than the lens.

Thank you so much!! I'm leaving the above post as-is just to amplify what's already been stated here several times. It really was an extremly gentle rotation of the lens which didn't feel as though it could possibly have done any damage to the camera. Anonymous, You have a nice camera.
