PS: I had no memory card in the camera (with its door closed) during the entire process. But note that the fixes listed here will not work for everyone. Shouldn't you still be able to download these pictures from your memory card using a simple cheap card reader? You have nothing to lose.... An inadvertent activation of the camera while in the case or pocket may cause the lens to extend with the lens restricted in its movement, causing the error. Thanks.
