Good luck! Do you? my camera was like jamming when the lens tried to come out and saying lens error, so i tried forcing it out and ended up snapping the front of the lense I tried taking the whole thing apart to clean it but can't work out how to get the front cover off. More about the author

Have to say I was a bit apprehensive about putting force on the lens - actually had to apply quite a bit more than "very gently" to get the required result This got the lens to retract, which was an improvement, but was still getting stuck while zooming. Some people have luck with removing and replacing the batteries multiple times, so you could try that. Do you?
i just put in the cord again and this time it worked! However, judging by the comments this post continues to receive, the Canon SD1000 still has this issue, and... We tried them all and ended up taking a few screws out and then oiling around the lens with sewing machine or hair clipper oil.

My next project is to pop a new screen into my SD800. I was unable to take the front case completely off for some reason.
